Postby ]=[endo » Fri Jun 26, 2009 8:17 am

Heres and email I got for pre-ordering Windows 7 at a discount. I got a good laugh at the statement in yellow.

No discount for Ultimate kinda blows though. I've been using 7 since the public release and I like it more than Vista. I've only run into a few issues with some games not working but otherwise it's run very well.

What's the difference between the Professional version and the Ultimate version?

More extras in Ultimate and it should also include Mediacenter.

The problem I have with Ultimate is the Ultimate extra's. After I bought Vista Ultimate, a couple months later I got a notice from Microsoft that they were stopping the development of the extras. Hell, that's one of the main reasons I went with Ultimate.

All 3 versions of Windows 7 have Mediacenter..... and no longer have to choose between 32 and 64 bit...

You mean we have the option of 32 or 64-bit ??? That's huge!

I think so..... Hoping that the upgrade does not force a 32-bit install if you have Vista-32bit.....

If they do allow upgrades from 32-bit to 64-bit, it will likely have to be a fresh install, due to the differences in 32-bit and 64-bit. I know the RC didn't allow an in-place upgrade from 32-bit to 64-bit, and I'm doubting that will change from RC to RTM.

I'd love to be wrong on that, however.

the Vista upgrade asked if you wanted to keep anything from XP. If you said no it would wipe it and install cleanly just like it wasn't there keeping no files what so ever.
